Hi, my name is Tom and I am a 3rd Year Engineering student. I have been training in Taekwondo for over 8 years and I am currently a 2nd Dan Black Belt. Taekwondo has been a huge part of my life in that time and has given me the ability to do things I never expected I would. These include competing at national level tournaments, overcome challenging situations and generally being a more confident and organised person. I would recommend that anyone who thinks about trying out a sport at University come to Taekwondo, as it develops fitness, flexibility and self-control. As President, I am in charge of running the Club, with the help of my exec team. This ranges from organising sessions to planning competitions and gradings (tests to reach your next belt), as well as all of our seminars and external activities. The Club is open to people from any background, from complete beginners to senior black belts. We won't discriminate against your current Taekwondo association and we have dedicated ITF and WTF sessions, as well as fitness focussed sessions. We compete regularly in both styles around the country. We practise self-defence and applications in real world scenarios, developing self-confidence in a new environment. In addition to all this goodness, we have a really fun social side, with activities ranging from relaxed meet-ups to ice-skating, paintball and international holidays. Basically, no matter your interests, we have something for you! This Club is a fantastic way to get fit, gain new experiences and meet fantastic people outside of your course. If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to contact us, we're more than happy to have a chat with you. I hope to see you at the next training session!
I’m Danielle, I’m in my 3rd year studying Data Science and I will be your Treasurer for the next year! Being Treasurer basically means I’m in charge of most payments, fees and other finance related things for the club. I joined in my first year and I’ve found that it’s one of the most friendly and accommodating clubs with regular training sessions as well as a multitude of socials, so whether you’re a black belt or a novice, I’m confident you’ll fit in with us in no time. I myself started as a complete beginner and have attained my blue belt so far so there’s definitely an opportunity for you to progress at pretty much whatever pace you choose. I hope to see you try us out (and hopefully stay!); if you have any questions, ask away!
Hi, I’m Sean and I’m the club’s secretary. I write weekly emails to members, liaise with any external contacts and generally exist to make sure everyone knows what is going on. I joined Warwick TKD in October 2014 as a white belt, and since then I’ve become a green belt, gone on tour to Athens and Rome, won medals at national competitions and met some absolutely incredible people. This club offers so much to its members, who in turn each contribute to the tight-knit community that sees me coming back for a third year as an exec member. If you have any questions about the club, about what we do or about Taekwondo itself don’t hesitate to get in touch! This can be done via our Facebook page, or the club’s email address which can be found on this site.
Yo! We are Quang and Annie, 2nd year students and we shall use our great and different range of skills, acquired through an unholy mix of Engineering and English, to serve all of you as Warwick TKD social secs. Our every waking (and even sleeping) moments are dedicated to planning socials for you lovely people, ranging from humble but albeit heart-warming meal, to drinking at circles before heading to POP! and, towards the end of the year, taking all of you on TOUR! We both entered the club in our last year as freshers and as white-belts; although our stay has only been a short while, we felt welcomed by everybody from the very start and now TKD is like a second home to us. It’d be our pleasure to make you feel the same way. See you aroun!
Hi, I'm a fourth year computer scientist I will be your publicity officer this year (for a second year). This involves keeping the website up to date, making new videos (you can view our videos on the home page) and making sure we get into the boar newspaper for all our fantastic acheievement. I have been doing Tae Kwon Do for the past 5-6 years. It has completely changed my life, making me more confident in everything I do. Tae Kwon Do is a great martial art for any one to start (at Warwick) because it helps get you fit, meet some really great people and go on tour!!! Infact because of Tae Kwon Do I now have a Guiness world record (Not as impressive as you're thinking ).
Hey, I’m Kam-a first year Engineering student. I originally started Taekwondo around 5 years ago and having instructed WTF before I joined Warwick, I’ve also competed at the Student National, British Nationals and The Internationals. I am excited to say that Warwick Taekwondo provides both an ITF and WTF experience. Besides training WTF, I am having a great time and experience trying ITF for the first time. As Captain, I will pass on as much experience as I have and help to encourage you if needed in order for you to reach your goals and become the best version of yourself in all manners. Whether its increasing or maintaining your fitness level or even stepping into a ring and bringing home the gold medal, I will be there to help and assist you every step of the way. So whether you have had any experience or even none at all you are welcomed to come! And always remember ‘No PAIN, NO GAIN’! That’s enough of me, don’t be shy, come down to one of our session, try it out and you will be amazed by how you will be welcomed to the club and how great you will become!
Hello! Im Tom, a second year History student and your Charity and Community Officer for this year. It's my job to sort out all of the charitable activities that Warwick Taekwondo will be doing this year, along with arranging donations to the charity that we are sponsoring (which is yet to be decided!). These events could ranger from pub quizzes to poker nights, but don't hesitate to talk to me if you think you have a great idea. I started Warwick Taekwondo completely new to the martial art, and though I had done Karate for four years before, I found it extremely easy to shift styles because the club is so accommodating. Taekwondo has become such a large part of my university life, and I've made so many new friends at the club that (cliché alert) I seriously couldn't imagine my life without it. If you ever need me, just talk to the guy who looks like Ed Sheeran. Cheers!
Hello! I’m Heather and I am a third year chemist. I’m also taekwondo’s kit secretary this year. This means that I am responsible for organising the clubs equipment and providing members with their very own taekwondo gear! I joined taekwondo at the beginning of my second year and have enjoyed being part of the club ever since. As well as being great for fitness, I have found that the club is a great place to make friends and gain confidence too. I’ve even enjoyed some aspects of the sport that I initially didn’t think I would, such as sparring and competitions. I’d thoroughly recommend joining this club, even if you haven’t done any kind of sport before (I hadn’t)!
